Shikra (accipiter badius), from the Hindi, meaning hunter, is a small bird of prey similar to other sparrowhawk species. Also known as the Little Banded Goshawk (in pinyin he’er ying) it is common throughout Africa, India and Asia, and is famed for its bravery.
